Ganzhou Municipal Bureau of Public Security is the functional department under the municipal government in charge of public security work and penal execution citywide. It is the leading and commanding organ of municipal polices; it takes charge of municipal public security, prevent and fight against penal and economic criminals.
Principal Functions:
To implement national laws and regulations as well as policies and guidelines on public security; to study and draft municipal regulations and implementation measures on public security; to lead and command municipal public security organs; to assign, direct, examine and supervise municipal public security work.
 To grasp situations which threaten stabilization and jeopardize social security and order, analyze the situation and formulate countermeasures.
To take charge of penal scout, organize and coordinate the handling of major cases, social security issues, social security incidents, terrorist activities and riots.
 To organize municipal public security organs to fight against behaviors jeopardizing social order, and manage household registration, doorplates, floating population, identification cards, firearms and ammunition, dangerous objects and special trades.
 To take charge of entry-&-exit and stay, travel of foreigners in Ganzhou City, and be responsible for foreign affairs related to municipal public security system.
 To take charge of municipal fire and guarding control.
 To take charge of maintenance of communication safety and order, and management of vehicles and drivers.
 To supervise and instruct security work in state organs, societal associations, enterprises and important construction sites; to instruct crime prevention work of community security commissions; to direct the construction work of security organizations in state organs, public institutions and enterprises, economic polices and guard contingents.
 To take charge of security inspection of public information networks.
 To take charge of the punishment execution, supervision and reviewing work of municipal public security organs according to laws; to take charge of management of prisons, jails and compulsory drug rehabilitation centers.
To take charge of legal construction of municipal public security system; to direct, examine and supervise execution of municipal public security organs.
To take charge of penitentiary, correction, examination and approval work, and undertake the routine work of municipal examination and approval office of labor and correction commission.
 To take charge of municipal drug control and forbidding.
To organize municipal science and technology programmes for public security, plan construction programmes of information technology, penal technology and proceeding technology for public security.
 To take charge of equipment and finance support for municipal public security organs.
 To lead the construction of municipal public security fire-fighting troops; to lead and command the municipal branch of armed polices when they're carrying out public security missions and relevant operations.
 To take charge of political education and contingent construction of municipal public security system; to organize and implement education and skill trainings for municipal polices; to organize propaganda of public security citywide; to manage the personnel affairs within the municipal public security system according to relevant regulations.
To formulate supervision and management regulations for municipal public security contingent, analyze the status of the contingent, and implement and direct the supervision of municipal public security organs; to implement supervision over cadres within its authority; to investigate and deal with cases in which public security personnel violate disciplines.
Ganzhou Municipal Forestry Public Security Bureau is delimited into Ganzhou Municipal Bureau of Public Security, it is under the dual leadership of its superior administration and Ganzhou Municipal Bureau of Public Security; Ganzhou Municipal Forestry Public Security Bureau is the functional department under the municipal bureau of public security in charge of organizing, directing investigating and dealing with forestry penal and security cases, its operation should be under the leadership of Ganzhou Municipal Bureau of Public Security.
To undertake other tasks assigned by the municipal government.
